In the context of China’s real estate market, sales centers often receive as much design attention as the projects they promote. Traditionally, these centers feature opulent stone facades, sculptural pines, water features, and luxurious interiors, all aiming to evoke stability and timelessness. However, despite their grandeur, many are dismantled post-use to accommodate further development. Departing from this norm, the Shipping Container Landscape embraces temporality through its architectural choice of shipping containers. This approach not only acknowledges the ephemeral nature of sales centers but also challenges traditional design aesthetics by organizing classic showroom programs within these modular units. Ballistic Architecture Machine (BAM) collaborated closely with the client to extend this innovative concept into the landscape design. The result is a series of walls—some arched, others patterned—that create distinct garden rooms extending from the main structure. A prominent feature is the expansive reflection pool adorned with aquatic plants, employing a graphic of circular elements arranged in grid modules. Additional amenities include a patterned parking area, a birch garden, a bocce court, and a beer garden, all contributing to a cohesive and engaging environment. This project was recognized as a finalist in the 2022 Architizer A+ Awards and received the Gold Award at the 2022 Grands Prix du Design.
