BAM designs the debut exhibition at the Macalline Art Foundation Center in Beijing 798 Art District led by curator and writer Yuan Fuca.

‘The Elephant Escaped’ is a group show in the genre of performance art inspired by Lu Nei’s 2020 novel Mistwalkers, a nonlinear traversal of recent Chinese historical events like the 1998 floods and the 2008 Olympics. Curated by the centre’s artistic director Yuan Fuca with assistant curation by Chen Yujian and Clement Huang, the show features new commissions from artists Tao Hui, Shen Xin, Li Ming, Fang Di and Peng Zuqiang.

The exhibition attempts to respond to contemporary society and life in the post-pandemic era, by engaging the audience into a dialogue between independent yet enmeshed elements.

‘The Elephant Escaped’, implies a controversial relationship between humans and wilderness or nature, a fundamental theme to BAM’s project portfolio and design practice. It is therefore a great honor for BAM to be able to work with Yuan Fuca, as well as with her team, and the artists in creating this show.

'The Elephant Escaped' is open for visiting till April 16, 2022at the Macalline Art Center in Beljing's 798 Art District.
