Co-founder of Ballistic Architecture Machine, Jacob Walker speaks at YIXI Talk, China’s equivalent of the TED Talk. Previously presenting BAM’s visionary proposal for the Guomao Intersection (2018), a major infrastructural node in Beijing, BAM co-founder is back at the coveted stage of YIXI Talk with BAM newest Urban Initiative – Sanlitun Streetscape Renovation.

In this project the studio takes on the renovation of Beijing’s best known entertainment district – Sanlitun, and puts forward a bold proposal for an iconic scramble intersection as the memorable eye catcher for the hotspot and a laconic solution to another major traffic bottleneck in the megapolis.

In this talk, BAM sheds light on the frequently faced question – ‘What is the Urban Landscape’, illustrating the indispensable relevance of the ‘landscape thinking’ for increasingly complex metropolises of the 21st century.
