BAM’s Baoshan Waste-to-Energy Center & Museum of Waste has received an Honorable Mention in Architectural Design at the Design Educates Awards 2026.
The Design Educates Awards recognize architecture and design that go beyond aesthetics to create meaningful educational and social impact. Located on a former industrial site in Shanghai, Baoshan reimagines waste management infrastructure as a public amenity. Combining advanced waste-to-energy facilities with a 10-hectare rooftop park and the Museum of Waste, the project makes the processes of waste treatment and energy recovery visible and accessible, encouraging a broader understanding of the circular economy.Â
